Transferring ownership

Transferring ownership of a document locks the copies of the document in all collaborating shares except the one to which you are transferring ownership and unlocks the copy of the document at the selected share. It also updates the status information that is shown at all collaborating shares. Transferring ownership requires:

• The selected share must be enlisted for the selected document as described in . 
• A copy of the document must already exist at the selected share, made by one of the GCF scheduled transfers.
• The selected document must be owned by the current share. You cannot transfer ownership between two remote shares.

To transfer ownership of a document:

1. Select the document for which you want to transfer ownership.
2. Click the Collaboration Status tab. The Collaboration Status property page appears.
3. Click Transfer. The Transfer Ownership dialog appears.
4. Click options or type values using the descriptions in the following table.
5. Click OK to close the dialog. The ownership will be transferred by the next GCF scheduled transfer and the email notification sent.

OR

1. Select the documents for which you want to transfer ownership.
2. Right-click anywhere in the highlighted rows to show the selection shortcut menu.
3. Click Transfer Ownership. The Transfer Ownership dialog box appears.
4. Click options or type values using the descriptions in the following table..
5. Click OK to close the dialog. The ownership will be transferred by the next GCF scheduled transfer and the email notification sent.
